Sprayable adhesives have been used for many years in a wide variety of different applications. The main advantages of sprayable adhesives are the speed and ease of application. Sprayable adhesives need to be of a relatively low viscosity in order that they can be processed satisfactorily.
The spray guns themselves can either be hand held or mounted on a traverse and the wide variety of needle tips and caps available offers the user a vast selection of spray patterns.
For small operations the adhesive can be fed to a hand held gun through small containers mounted either above or below the tip.
Where adhesive is required in larger quantities it is pumped to the gun from large bulk containers (205 litre drums, IBCs). As with the guns, there is also a selection of pumps available, including reciprocating, diaphragm and gear.
If a large throughput of big panels, such as caravan slides and floors, is required, then the spray gun is usually mounted on a traversing arm and the panels are passed under the gun or guns on a conveyor.
