A full production scale 1400mm wide Barberan hot melt roller coat applicator has been installed in Apollo Chemicals' Technical Centre to enable customers and potential customers to evaluate the performance of Apollo's new range of reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesives.
Customers are able to bring their own full size components to be bonded rather than work with pilot scale materials which are not always representative of actual production.
The hot melt coating line is designed to apply adhesive coat weights ranging from 20 - 150 gms per m2 and is complete with a new Barberan roller press.
Apollo's reactive hot melts are formulated to be applied at an energy efficient 120 C compared to some products in the market requiring 160 C plus and give the added benefits of low odour and minimal fuming.
Apollo's new generation hot melt adhesives have all the benefits and ease of application of traditional hot melt adhesives in that they are solvent free and give instant bonds on cooling but they have the added advantage of post-curing to develop high performance structural bond strengths.
The new coating line complements Apollo's existing demonstration lines for spray and bead applied adhesive systems which are all available for production trials.
